Amy M. Carter, Attorney

Amy Carter was born in Atlanta, Georgia and attended school in Georgia until 1992.  Ms. Carter's father worked for a large transportation company and they relocated to Frisco, Texas in 1992.  Ms. Carter graduated from Frisco High School in 1996.  Shen went onto college and obtained a Bachelors of Arts degree and gradated with honors from University of California, Irvine in 2000.  While in college, Ms. Carter competed on the National Speech and Debate Team.

Ms. Carter went onto Law School and graduated from California Western School of Law in San Diego, CA in 2003.  While in Law School Ms. Carter competed on the National Trial Team. In 2002, Ms. Carter clerked for the San Diego Public Defender's office and tried and won two jury trials (DUI) prior to graduating from law school.

After graduating, Ms. Carter began to work for a large firm in Las Vegas, NV.  Ms. Carter gained experience taking depositions, attending mediations, as well as working with large scale clients and insurance companies.  Ms. Carter left the law firm to get her trial feet wet and began working for the District Attorneys office in Clark County, Nevada (Las Vegas).  The experienced that she gained at the District Attorney's office was invaluable.  Clark County was an extremely fast paced court environment.  In only a year, Ms. Carter tried nine felony jury trials including, armed robbery, attempted murder and gang related crimes.

Ms. Carter moved back to Georgia in 2007 to be near her family and began working for the Jackson County District Attorney's office. As an Assistant District Attorney, Ms. Carter focused primarily on the Special Victim's cases (Sexual Abuse and  Physical Abuse).  Ms. Carter worked directly with law enforcement, child advocacy centers as well as the Department of Family and Children's Services to effetively prosecute these cases.  In 2009, Ms. Carter decided to leave the District Attorney's office and go into private practice with the Law Offices of Epps and Pilgrim. 

While at the Law Offices of Epps and Pilgrim, Ms. Carter began working with the family law clients as well as clients charged with sex-related offenses.  Ms. Carter has focused the last four years on these two areas of law and has formed a passion for helping families through such a critical period of their lives.  Family law requires a compassionate, dedicated and strong attorney, and Ms. Carter firmly believes that her extensive background has helped her cultivate very good relationships with her clients. 

Ms. Carter proudly opened her own practice in 2013 and is excited to offer her services and experience to the community.  Ms. Carter is a member of the Gwinett County Bar Association and Forsyth County Bar Association. 

Ms. Carter has been married to her husband Scott for 13 years and has three children (Gracie 8, Hudson 6, and Faith Dylan 2).   They currently reside in Buford.  Scott is from Southern California and works for Penske Truck Leasing.  Amy and Scott attend 12-Stone Church and spend most of their free time attending Competitive Allstar Cheerleading Events with their daugther Gracie, Karate events with their son Hudson or boating on Lake Lanier.
